This post is long, long, LONG overdue. I was in London in February — three months ago. Why did it take me so long to finally post pictures? Well, I have several excuses, each flimsier than the last. The main one, though, is that I didn’t have a lot of photos to post in the first place. No, scratch that: I didn’t have a lot of GOOD photos. I didn’t take very many, and of the ones I did take, they were usually quick snaps with little thought given to composition, lighting, or even subject. Like this one. I snapped it (and chose it as the first photo) because what could be more iconic and recognizable as London than the red double decker buses and the Houses of Parliament?
I don’t have any decent photos of Big Ben, the red phone booths, or even the Palace guards. I saw all three, of course. But I’m not really a shutterbug by nature; most of the time, I’m simply too lazy to take out my camera. Also, another excuse is that it was just too damn cold at the time and my hands were freezing even with gloves on, and the thought of taking them off just to take a picture was laughable.
Anyway, I know I’ll visit again. And again and again. In fact, the eventual plan is to move my lazy ass over there so I can be with Albert. Long distance relationships aren’t easy. Don’t get me wrong; I would wait for years if that’s what it takes because he’s the love of my life and I can’t and won’t turn my back on that, no matter how inconvenient the interim might be. But I’m impatient by nature, and I want to be with him NOW.
With that said, I want to share my favorite picture from the entire trip. It’s poorly lit, a little skewed and off-centered and even a little blurry, but I love it best all the same.
